Father’s Day Whisky Tasting
This Father’s Day, gift him an afternoon to remember. Descend the stairs at The Baxter Inn for a guided tasting of rare whiskies, exploring the history, character and stories behind each dram.
The evening begins with a welcome cocktail, the ‘Horses Neck’, made with Johnnie Walker Black, Angostura bitters and dry ginger ale, before moving through five extraordinary half drams spanning some of the world’s most celebrated whisky regions:
Glenfarclas 21 Year Old — Speyside
With notes of dark fruit, honey and soft spice, this dram is rich, sherry-forward and hails from one of the few Scottish distilleries still family owned and operated. Clean and light with a perfect level of sweetness, this Glenfarclas 21 year old dram is an easy introduction to sherry cask whisky.
Springbank 18 Year Old — Campbeltown
Coastal notes, orchard fruit, and a gentle smokiness make this dram a cult classic. Produced by one of Scotland’s great whisky-making families with a long tradition of traditional production.
Glendronach 21 Year Old — Highland
With this dram, we move into a heavier and richer level of sherry. Aged for 21 years, this whisky is a revered classic in the sherry-forward whisky world and is distilled under the supervision of one of the industry’s greats Dr. Rachel Barrie. Expect notes of dark fruit, raisin cake, chocolate.
Highland Park 19 Year Old SMWS — Islands
A naturally soft, gentle and heathery style of peat, Highland Park is a kind introduction to peated whisky. This dram is a perfect opportunity to explore the difference between an original and independent bottling.
Ardbeg 19 Year Old Traigh Bhan — Islay
A dram to be remembered. With notes of iodine, spice, smoke, Ardbeg is a heavily peated annual release. Aged in American Oak and Oloroso casks, this whisky showcases how time in wood can soften and transform Ardbeg’s signature smoke.
Whether he’s a dedicated whisky drinker or new to the spirit, this tasting is designed to welcome both, gradually building from classic and approachable to rich, smoky and distinctive.
