Head Sommelier

Alberto’s Lounge is looking for a Head Sommelier to shape our wine service, listing, and wine culture.

Alberto's Lounge is a neighbourhood Italian restaurant and wine bar located in the heart of Sydney.

Our wine focus is on minimal intervention, small producer, Australian and Italian wines while still remaining enthusiastic and open to traditional wine making, classic styles, and anything that’s truly delicious.

We're seeking a talented sommelier to join our team and continue to offer exceptional service, creating, managing and serving our list of over 150 wines. There is scope to make the list of your own, offering a specialised experience for guests and to train and manage our highly skilled team.

This role is suited to someone as dedicated to teaching as they are to learning: supporting a culture of knowledge around wine is an important element of the position.

An open mind and unpretentious attitude are also essential qualities needed for the role.

Alberto’s Lounge opened in late 2018 and is fast cementing itself as a local institution. It has won several awards and continues to be recognised as one of Sydney’s busiest little restaurants, garnering praise for it’s delicious food, quality wine and great atmosphere.

Alberto's Lounge is part of the larger Swillhouse family who owns and operates Restaurant Hubert, Frankie's Pizza By The Slice, Baxter Inn and Shady Pines Saloon. We are looking for waiters with an in-depth knowledge of food and wine, who understand how to run a seamless service and have a genuine passion for giving devoted hospitality.
