For Whisky Connoisseurs who’ve tried it all and are on the hunt for something a little more unusual, we’ve cultivated a selection of rare, exceptional Scottish Whiskies rich with history and character.
With thousands of distilleries operating in the world, and over 150 active in Scotland, there are countless drams readily available for whisky lovers to try. But for all the better-known bottles, the Whisky world is teeming with rare gems, ones that we have lined up just for you. Drams produced at distilleries now lost, limited releases from private collections and smaller distilleries that are lesser known.
Before the bar doors swing open, Baxter will transform into an intimate whisky cave for a private tasting with a select few. Guided by the incomparable London, who has led masterclasses alongside the world’s finest (including Glenfiddich’s own BrianKinsman), this is a rare chance to sit, sip, and explore whiskies and the historic craft.
EH Taylor Rye Old Fashioned
For a step up of one of the most classic cocktails, this Kentucky Straight Rye has been produced, in the same style for over 100 years. It tips its hat to its original creator, Colonel Edmund Haynes Jr, a man regarded as the father of Modern bourbon and founder of Buffalo Trace.
Cadenhead 37 Year Old Highland
Cadenhead is Scotland’s oldest independent bottler, and they have hand-picked exceptional barrels to share with Whisky Lovers for over 175 Years. Light-bodied with notes of orange, orchard fruits and gingerbread, this malt has an impressive age of 37 years in ex-bourbon casks. It hails from one of the most beloved Highland Distilleries, which are not named, but connoisseurs might just be able to guess their distinct style.
Pittyvaich 28 Year Old
Having only operated for less than twenty years, this Speyside Distillery was one of the shortest operating stills in history and was initially built to provide malts for blending. Despite only one official release, however, their single malt has become a favourite amongst independent bottlers and is highly sought after by Whisky collectors due to its rarity. Beginning with candied fruit and Orange Blossom and ending on a long, spiced finish, this aromatic dram probes that while Pittyvaich did not last long, the impression it leaves certainly will.
Benromach 35
For one of the smallest working Distilleries in Scotland, with only two people operating, Benromach still manages to have a big impact. 35 years in hand-picked, first fill Sherry Casks have lent this Whisky a rich body, packed with luxurious flavours of Raisins, Dark Chocolate, and Baking Spice. A faint hint of smoke rounds out the palate, making this whisky a perfect example of the robust flavours that Benromach is known and loved for.
La Maison Du Whisky Little Mill
Scotland’s first officially licensed distillery, Little Mill, has long since shut its doors, and its historic site burned down more than twenty years ago. But while the distillery is no more, its rich and detailed history lives on in the increasingly rare bottles of its whisky. With a lush, creamy palate that bears notes of brown toffee, custard and a hint of pepper, it’s a dram that will ensure this distillery may be gone but is never forgotten.
Flowermore 38
An extremely rare treat to finish, this Whisky is one of a kind. Distilled back in 1985 at Islay’s oldest Distillery, Bowmore, it has been and aged in a Single Barrel for 38 years. Delicate notes of violet and heather are what inspire its unusual nickname, balanced with a subtle hint of brine and peat that settles into a long and oily finish. A unique and extraordinary drama.
